The Hy-Drive HGS® Unit's Effectiveness is Third Party Validated- July 2009
In July 2009, Hy-Drive Technologies Ltd. engaged Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI), a significant North American engineering firm, to oversee standard SAE tests to validate the effect of using the Hy-Drive HGS® unit on Class 8 highway tractors. PSI followed the TMC/SAE J1321 Fuel Consumption Test protocol and the SAE J1667 Emissions Test protocol. They are the approved methodologies for confirming the effectiveness of aftermarket products for use with highway tractors. The test results verified the effectiveness of the HGS® on three identical highway tractors with Caterpillar engines, pulling loaded trailers, by reducing fuel consumption by 10.47% and particulate matter as measured by opacity by 39.5%. Operating Requirements
Operation of the Hydrogen
Generating System (HGS®) requires the addition of 2 litres of
distilled water approximately every 60 hours of operation. The unit is designed
and manufactured to SAE J1455 standards for: extreme temperature, shock,
pressure, humidity, vibration, salt, fog, sand and dust.
Hydrogen gas has a greater flame speed than that of diesel fuel and improves
flame propagation inside the cylinder. With hydrogen enhancement, engines run
cooler, cleaner, and extract more useful energy.
Features of the HGS®
- Pressure safety controls
- Hydrogen leak sensors
- Turbo boost monitors
- Operational between +50c (+122F) to -40c (-40F)
- Auto filling
- LCD control

Installation
The HGS® is easily installed and is non-intrusive meaning that the OEM Engine warranty is not affected. Additionally, the engine will revert to normal operation should the HGS be disabled for any reason.. |
